OUR ECO & ETHICS

OUR PRACTICES, VISION AND COMMITMENT

Sustainable practices and nature are at the heart of Harriet Jane. When the label was first created, production took place offshore, but overtime Harriet could see that the distance was allowing for errors and a huge amount of waste to take place. Being mindful of this Harriet decided to bring production back to Australian shores and employ locals for sampling and production. Any fabric wastage is now recycled into cute little ruffle knickers which you can find and purchase here online.

ECO PRINTING

Rather than traditional screen printing, which utilises a lot of water, all prints are brought to life with digital print methods and of course AZO free dyes.

OUR STUDIO

The Studio of Harriet Jane is based in the hills of the Byron Bay hinterland, the property is also Harriet's home. It is here that all designs, patterns and garments are constructed by a small and local team. The Studio is plastic free and has been for several years. While garments are made in Australia, fabrics are received from overseas, but it is a mandatory requirement of Harriet Jane that all items received into the studio are done so without any plastic in their packaging/ shipping process. The home studio is also where Harriet grows most of her own food and the plans to become solar powered as soon as possible.
